Both escaped the scary par-3 15th with long two-putt pars and failed to birdie the par-5 16th, tying with pars. But there was more suspense at the 173-yard, par-3 17th.
Woods found the green with an 8-iron, his ball finishing 17 feet left of the hole. McDowell also hit an 8-iron but pulled it left of the green into tall fescue grass. Ultimately, he took an unplayable lie -- a one-stroke penalty -- and dropped near the ninth tee. Playing a blind third shot, he hit a great flop shot to within seven feet of the cup and made the putt, losing only one stroke to Woods, who two-putted.
